May is America Heart and Stroke Month
In the month of May we have American Heart and Stroke month. And the CDC is also stepping up things and wants us to observe High Blood Pressure Awareness month. So we need to be taking a look at our health and our risks. How often do you check your blood pressure?
The heart is a very important organ in our bodies. When we reach the age of 50, this is about the age of natural menopause; our risk for heart disease increases considerably. Here is a list of risk factors:
· High blood pressure
· Smoking
· Diabetes
· High and Low cholesterol
· Overweight
· Heart disease in the family
· Inactive lifestyle
I have suffered with high blood pressure since 1996 and one of the contributing factors was fibroids and a family history. So my doctor put me on blood pressure medicine. It was a very mild dosage and had very little side affects. Can I treat my high blood pressure with diet and exercise? His response was yes you could. So I did just that and as of today my blood pressure is still kept maintained by diet and exercise.
Just making some healthy lifestyle changes would reduce your risk of heart disease. You can start adding some exercise to your life everyday and it would help you. Something as easy as adding a walking program can help you control your weight, handle your stress, increase your well-being, improve your heart.

Liver the Organ of Emotion
The liver is and important organ in the body and is the largest organ. The function of the liver is to store vitamins, sugars, fats, and other nutrients from the food you eat. It builds chemicals that your body needs to stay healthy, breaks down harmful substances like alcohol and other toxic (poisonous) chemicals, and removes waste products from your blood. Every organ, gland and tissue is dependent upon the liver, and the liver depends upon the digestive tract.
The liver is known as an organ of emotion and even thought. The liver is located behind the ribs on the right side of the abdomen. The liver empties harmful material from the blood and produces enzymes and bile that aids the digestive system. A healthy liver is critical to proper protein, carbohydrate, and fat metabolism. The liver performs numerous functions for the body: converting nutrients derived from food into essential blood components, storing vitamins and minerals, regulating blood clotting, producing proteins and enzymes, maintaining hormone balances, and metabolizing and detoxifying substances that would otherwise be harmful to the body.
The liver is connected to a lot of bodily organs. One of the most common diseases of the liver is hepatitis.
Hepatitis A, B and C are the most common forms of liver disease in the U.S. The liver is responsible for a lot of functions. The liver is responsible for our vision. If you are irritable and anger this affects the liver and here is what can result: menstrual pain, headache, redness of the face and eyes, dry mouth and dizziness. More than any other organ the liver is affected by our negative thoughts and feelings. The liver stores our blood, it opens our eyes and it rules our tendons and marks our nails.
A bad diet will gradually weaken the digestive system; the organ that is affected by this bad diet is the liver. This is why when people cleanse or take herbs to cleanse and strengthen the liver, strong emotions surface. The cleansing reaction must occur if we are to rid ourselves of the cause of our problems. Women suffering with menopausal and menstrual problems, infertility and endometriosis can get great results from a liver cleanse and detoxification. This is why cleansing of our liver is so important in helping rejuvenating the liver.
Allergies & Menopause
Allergies in menopausal women are common. In menopausal women the immune system goes into confusion and we are more susceptible to allergies during our menopause stage. The age most women reach menopause is between 45 and 55 years of age is the average and for reaching menopause is about 50 years. There are a small percentage of women that reach menopause before age 40. What are menopause allergies? They are allergens that have substances, often times eaten or inhaled, that can cause an allergic reaction when recognized by the immune system. The problem that makes it worse, it can be almost anything that menopausal women are allergic too.
In menopausal women sugar suppresses our immune system. Sugar can set our allergies off and make it more difficult for you to fight off viruses and bacterial infections. Here are some of the symptoms of allergies I have listed. Some of them tend to be mild, moderate, and severe.
· Congestion & Sneezing
· Difficulty breathing
· Different levels of swelling
· Itchy eyes, watery eyes, dry eyes
· Itchy crawly skin
· Making it difficult to breathe
· Rash, Hives
· Congestion & Sneezing
· Dizziness & Not Focused Mentally
· Vomiting & Diarrhea
Our body immune system and body hormones use the same chemical messenger that allergies react from. These changes will affect the overall working of our bodies. It all comes back to our hormones that is imbalanced due to our menopause. Our immune system will suffer and make menopausal woman more prone to allergies. Just to name some of the allergy symptoms we suffer with. The allergy symptoms will affect each individual differently some will be mild to severe. As for myself I can experience very mild to severe symptoms. I have just gotten to know my body well over the 50 years and understand what is going on. Also note that what caused your hypersensitive today may change the next day. This of course presents problems for the medical practioners dealing with menopause and allergies symptoms. This is why we have to take charge of our lives and research and look for natural healthy alternatives.
Allergies are often the result of an overloaded toxic state within the liver. As I have been studying diet and herbs, the human body I found out a lot about the liver and the important role it plays. If the quantity of a substance entering the bloodstream is too great for the liver to process quickly, the immune system recognizes the molecules as being an allergen and produces antibodies against them. So if the liver is filtering and processing correctly the allergen would not have the affect on our body. The allergy season is upon us and I have started to experience some of these symptoms listed. What I have noticed is since I am doing a cleanse right now my body is fighting the allergy symptoms. The Chinese call this formula “tiao he,” which means “harmonizing.” In herbology, it is considered a liver-cleansing formula.
This is where lifestyle changes should begin and be very careful when choosing a remedy or medicine to treat the allergy symptom. Keep your windows and doors close to prevent pollen and other allergens from entering into the home or car. Wash your bed sheets and linen in hot water at least once a week. Also buy allergy free pillowcases and bed protectors. Take a look at your diet, exercise and start eating right. Start taking natural supplements that will relieve these symptoms.
