September is Ovarian Cancer Awareness month
We want to talk about ovarian cancer and it being the seventh most common cancer in women in the U.S. The majority of ovarian cancers are diagnosed late, after the cancer has spread. When we go through the “midlife change” menopause, the ovaries stop releasing eggs and make less of the hormones we need. We want to educate women as much as possible to the signs and symptoms of ovarian cancer. Please see a list of the most common symptoms:
· Extreme fatigue
· Bloated and swollen abdomen
· Backaches, pain in abdomen, legs and pelvic area
· Constipation, diarrhea, indigestion and gas
The less common symptoms are:
· Shortness of breath
· Urge to urinate often
· Heavy periods or bleeding after menopause and heavy vagina bleeding
These symptoms may not be cancer, but you need to still check with your doctor.
