Menstrual Cycle/Irregular Periods
Is there such a thing as a regular period? This is a tricky question because no one is completely regular. Our cycles vary from 26 to 35 days. Normally if your cycle comes around the same time each month, then you are regular. When we reach a certain age, the cycles will start to change considerably, making them very difficult to keep track of them. A good thing to do is keep a journal or chart. This will be very useful when talking to your doctor. The reason our cycles are becoming irregular is because our bodies are not releasing an egg like it use too. When this happens, our body has no signal to cause a period. We as women respond differently to things. Our periods take on different habits too. We all are different and what is normal for you may not be for someone else.
What are irregular periods? Any type of bleeding that is abnormal when compared to your usual period. This does include a late period, periods too early and in between periods. It can also appear as particularly heavy bleeding (mennoraghia). This is what I suffered with. Women who are in the premenopausal and menopause stage will experience irregular periods. This will result from the imbalance of our estrogen and progesterone. One way to to deal with irregular periods is to balance our hormone levels. Here are some causes of irregular periods:
• Weight gain and loss
• Increased exercise- common in athletes
• Fatigue
• Stress, job related
• Illness
• Travel
• Hormone levels
• Drug use
• Problem with pelvic organs
• Breast-feeding
The physical cause is hormones like estrogen and progesterone. They both have a real definite effect on our menstrual cycle and regulate the ovulation during our cycle. When our hormones are not at a balanced level they do not operate properly. If this irregular bleeding last long, the body starts to shed the uterine lining in a manner that may alarm you and will lead to prolonged bleeding. Sometimes this long period can correct itself by the next cycle. The most frustrating change is the unpredictable aspect of perimenopause and menopause. Here are some things to consider when dealing with irregular periods. You may want to make some lifestyle changes and try some natural alternatives. You can try different approaches and see what works best for each person.
Book Review
That’s the question –Why are we still faced with an epidemic of heart disease that will kill more than half of our population? Dr. Lundell witnessed heart disease; he held it in his hands a quarter century after performing over 5,000 open heart surgeries.
While he was saving lives for many years he also wrestled with what he saw in the arteries of every patient-inflammation. The question he asked himself was why was inflammation present? This book is about a dedicated heart surgeon, Dr. Dwight Lundell. He wrote this book for the people, our hearts, our life’s for us to act on the knowledge and share this information with our loved ones, friends, etc. We need to tell as many about the truth so we can save as many life’s as possible. The book helped me to understand the reason people develop and die from heart disease. If only I knew what I just found out I would have been able to help some of my family and friends that have passed away as a result of heart disease. I thought high cholesterol was the cause of heart related diseases.
Now I see the real cause is inflammation-not cholesterol. This is inflammation you have swelling, redness, heat and pain around the area of the reaction to the injury or infection. The combination of the low fat and low cholesterol diet with other life style choices has created a firestorm. The most important thing to understand is with the long lists of aliments-inflammation is the common factor in almost all cases. The awesome news is that we can reduce inflammation. Dr. Lundell’s book explains in very simple terms how to take a stand and fight inflammation. We just need to read this book and follow his recommendations, watch our health change, get that glow back in our face.
This book is a must have in your library of books. Dr. Lundell says we need to make simple changes that will treat the inflammation instead of believing that cholesterol causes heart disease. If we give our bodies what it needs to operate properly our health will make remarkable strides and respond.
Liver the Organ of Emotion
The liver is and important organ in the body and is the largest organ. The function of the liver is to store vitamins, sugars, fats, and other nutrients from the food you eat. It builds chemicals that your body needs to stay healthy, breaks down harmful substances like alcohol and other toxic (poisonous) chemicals, and removes waste products from your blood. Every organ, gland and tissue is dependent upon the liver, and the liver depends upon the digestive tract.
The liver is known as an organ of emotion and even thought. The liver is located behind the ribs on the right side of the abdomen. The liver empties harmful material from the blood and produces enzymes and bile that aids the digestive system. A healthy liver is critical to proper protein, carbohydrate, and fat metabolism. The liver performs numerous functions for the body: converting nutrients derived from food into essential blood components, storing vitamins and minerals, regulating blood clotting, producing proteins and enzymes, maintaining hormone balances, and metabolizing and detoxifying substances that would otherwise be harmful to the body.
The liver is connected to a lot of bodily organs. One of the most common diseases of the liver is hepatitis.
Hepatitis A, B and C are the most common forms of liver disease in the U.S. The liver is responsible for a lot of functions. The liver is responsible for our vision. If you are irritable and anger this affects the liver and here is what can result: menstrual pain, headache, redness of the face and eyes, dry mouth and dizziness. More than any other organ the liver is affected by our negative thoughts and feelings. The liver stores our blood, it opens our eyes and it rules our tendons and marks our nails.
A bad diet will gradually weaken the digestive system; the organ that is affected by this bad diet is the liver. This is why when people cleanse or take herbs to cleanse and strengthen the liver, strong emotions surface. The cleansing reaction must occur if we are to rid ourselves of the cause of our problems. Women suffering with menopausal and menstrual problems, infertility and endometriosis can get great results from a liver cleanse and detoxification. This is why cleansing of our liver is so important in helping rejuvenating the liver.
